A famous artist once said, "I foresee it and yet I hardly ever carry it out as I foresee it. It transforms itself by the actual paint. I don't in fact know very often what the paint will do and it does many thing which are much better than I could make it do." Francis Bacon, 1963.
For me, this is so true for I too allow myself the freedom of letting a painting dictate what direction is best, sometimes ending in a completely different look. This current body of work illustrates many examples of this, particularly STILL LIFE, quite different in style which often begins as a traditional work with no particular end result in mind. I hope you will enjoy these new works as much as I enjoyed painting them with a better understanding of how they evolve. One thing is for sure, we must never be satisfied with what we do for then we cease to evolve and this insatiable appetite to create will cease as well.
