As part of his installation titled Interstitium, in our no. 5 Gallery, Matt Kuhlman created a wall drawing in response to the space. After a long week of setup, which included dodging snowstorms to get here from Milwaukee and building a black box room inside the No. 5 space to house a moving drawing, Matt returned to the gallery to complete a large-scale wall drawing. Over the course of two days, working with colored pencils and stencils, Matt created a colorful, multifaceted work directly on the wall. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Sol LeWitt and Agnes Martin, this work will only be on view for the duration of the exhibit. When the show closes, the wall will come down along with the drawing.
